Henley-Johnston & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1951 as Mason-Johnston & Associates by engineer Ray C. Mason and geologist Floyd T. Johnston. In 1991, Aubrey "Pete" Henley and John W. Johnston who were both Vice-Presidents at the time, gained ownership of the firm. Since inception, the company has provided consulting and testing services in the fields of Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Rock and Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, and Construction Materials Testing. Henley-Johnston & Associates brings forth an unparalleled record of experience and achievement in working with major geologic formations present in the North Texas and southern Oklahoma regions.
The Principals and staff of HJA have completed over 9000 projects and have provided consulting services for over 80 percent of the high-rise construction in the Dallas Central Business District and the Uptown area within the last 40 years. The company has also been actively involved in preparing reports and providing quality control services during construction for several of the major dams in the State of Texas. Our breadth of experience also includes large-scale and small-scale retail projects, single-family residential and apartment developments, custom built homes, and transportation related studies. HJA has also completed several hundred water transmission and storage projects, as well as several medical facilities and hospitals. Past work has included the original studies for the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport; consulting and testing services for the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Reactor and Squaw Creek Dam; the southern section of the Dallas North Toll way, testing services for the Super Conducting Super Collider; and the US 75/Central Expressway DART Tunnel.
Projects include geotechnical consulting for Children's Medical Center and Methodist Hospital; studies for the retail, office, and residential development for Blocks D, J, L, M, and Block 51 of the Victory Park Development; and geotechnical investigations and materials testing for the Castle Hills Residential Development in Lewisville, Texas. HJA has also conducted all of the subsurface investigations for the Dallas Convention Center beginning with the Dallas City Auditorium in 1957 and the subsequent expansions and additions.
